Zimbabwe

June, 2010

To my knowledge not much has changed in Zimbabwe. We still have a great contact in Reg Nield, but he can do little to change the fact that the graft within the government makes it impossible to send humanitarian personnel there.

They require that you pay, yes that’s right pay, $5000.00 to provide dental services within the country and sign a document giving up your diplomatic immunity and agree to spend years in prison and pay a $40,000.00 fine if you do anything they don’t like while you are there.

That is the reason why we didn’t do any actual dental work while we were there. If things change, Reg will let me know as I remain in touch with him and his family, but I don’t see that happening any time soon.
