PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

In January, 2011, Dr. Gordon Croft, with  Dr. Brion Lowry of Boiseand their two wives traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  They also had a pre-dental student fromProvo, Ut.,  Brandon Robbins accompany them on the trip. Brandon was a real asset on the trip as he speaks Spanish well.

They traveled to PV on Jan. 14, 2011 and returned Jan. 23, 2011. While down there they treated children at the Casa Hogar and Infantil Refugio de Santa Esperanza orphanages as has been done in previous years. All went well with their work and other activities. We saw no activity that made them feel unsecure or in danger. Each year an ongoing problem has been where they will store the dental equipment down in PV. The last two years they have stored the equipment at a member’s work office and home. They decided to rent a commercial storage unit to store all of the equipment in one place. The cost was a little higher than they liked but they felt it would do for now. One of the Academy’s Adec units was not working well so Dr. Croft brought it back to have it repaired. Overall they enjoyed their trip to warm, beautiful Puerto Vallarta and , as always, doing dental work for the children is real satisfying.

“If you know of any Spanish speaking dentists that would like to be involved with leading teams in PV, please let me know. We could possibly take them down on this next trip and give them experience so they could help lead teams in the future. We have had good success with the PV project in the past and will strive to keep it going. This was Dr. Brion Lowry’s first dental trip out of country and I think he and his wife enjoyed it a lot. If you have any questions or suggestions please write. Tentatively, we will work to organize our next dental service trip to PV in Jan. 2012.”
