Academy of LDS Dentists

Dear Dental Volunteers,

We are doing dental work in Tijuana on a consistent basis. We generally have pre-dental college students who come and work with a dentist for a week. This experience has helped many get into dental school.

We need at least 4 dentists to come and work with the college students assisting. We also could use an additional four more dental assistants. Each dentist should bring the hand pieces they plan on using and a copy of their license. If you have any used equipment that you are not using in your office we would welcome that equipment as a donation to our two offices. We will furnish the rest of the supplies.

We charge $250 for each volunteer. We furnish housing, meals and local transportation. Some dentists have preferred to stay in a motel 6 type motel not far from the hospital. It costs $30 per night. If you decide to do that, then we will not charge the dentist anything.

We can pick the dentist up at the San Diego airport if they decide to fly in. We will meet the dentist at the border if you decide to drive across. I would like to have your cell phone number to communicate instructions as you approach the border. Passports are not needed to get back into the states but they are the best identification. A driver’s license is all that is required at the moment.

We welcome any dentist to come for just a few days. We will work Monday through Friday. I have had some come for just two days or more. You will be in charge of the work at the dental chair where you work and will teach, instruct, and demonstrate dental work. Extractions and fillings are all that is done. You will not be doing any complicated dentistry.
